What makes it medical

Ear piercing is a small procedure, and it is still a procedure. Doing it in a clinical room changes what surrounds it: who holds the instrument, what has been sterilised, how the placement is decided, and what you are told before you leave.

Every appointment is performed by a registered nurse using sterile technique, and every appointment includes individualised care, attention to proper placement, education, and the highest standards of infection prevention. That is the whole difference. It is not a faster piercing or a fancier one — it is the same piercing with the parts that matter taken seriously.

How this differs from retail piercing

  • Who does it

A registered nurse, not a retail assistant trained on the job. The same nurse who performs every other treatment here.

  • Sterile technique

Infection prevention is the standard the appointment is built around, not an afterthought once the jewellery is in.

  • Placement

Marked and agreed before anything happens. Ears are not symmetrical, and placement is a judgement rather than a measurement.

  • Time

An appointment rather than a queue. Ten minutes and up, with room for a nervous child to take a moment.

Blomdahl Medical® jewellery, and why nickel matters

We use Blomdahl Medical® hypoallergenic jewellery, developed in consultation with dermatologists to minimise the risk of nickel allergy and skin irritation.

Nickel is the reason this is worth a paragraph. It is the most common contact allergen in the world, and a sensitivity to it, once acquired, is permanent — it does not only affect earrings afterwards. A first piercing, in a fresh wound held open for weeks, is the worst possible moment to find out whether a child reacts to it. Choosing jewellery designed around that risk is the single most consequential decision in the whole appointment, and it is made before the piercing rather than after.

Who it is for

Infants from two months, children, teens and adults

Two months is the earliest we will pierce. Beyond that the service is the same at every age — the pace changes, not the standard. If you are unsure whether the timing is right for your child, say so when you book; that conversation is part of the appointment.

Aftercare

You will be given written aftercare instructions at the appointment, and talked through them before you leave. Healing a piercing well is mostly about what you do in the weeks afterwards rather than what happens in the ten minutes on the day, so the instructions are the part worth keeping.

If something looks wrong while it is healing, call us on (956) 904-8826 rather than guessing. That is included.

Questions

Ear piercing questions

How old does a baby have to be?

Two months. That is the floor for this service, and it is set by the practice rather than by what a retail counter will agree to do.

Is it a needle or a gun?

Neither is a piercing gun in the mall sense. This is a medical service performed by a registered nurse using sterile technique and the Blomdahl Medical system, which is designed to keep the jewellery and the piercing site sterile throughout.

What makes the jewellery different?

Blomdahl Medical® jewellery is hypoallergenic and was developed in consultation with dermatologists to minimise the risk of nickel allergy and skin irritation. Nickel is the most common contact allergen there is, and a first piercing is a bad time to discover a sensitivity to it.

Can you pierce both ears at once?

Ask when you book. Availability depends on the appointment and, for a small child, on what is kindest on the day.

Does an adult need an appointment too?

Yes — the service is the same for infants, children, teens and adults, and every appointment includes placement, education and aftercare instructions.

What does it cost?

From $35. Five options are bookable, and the jewellery is chosen at the appointment, so the total depends on the pair you pick. The current options and prices are on the booking page.
